Our properties are located throughout San Diego’s 3 most historic and charming neighborhoods: Little Italy, Mission Hills, and Banker’s Hill. While these neighborhoods are unique from each other it’s what they share in common that makes them so fun to stay in: architectural diversity, thriving commercial districts, and unforgettable character!

Our properties are about as close as you get can get to the hustle bustle of downtown, while retaining the serenity of a quaint, peaceful upscale neighborhood.

Little Italy

The name says it all – old world Italian charm in the heart of a beautiful tropical setting. Little Italy is an eclectic neighborhood with charming sidewalk cafés, delightful little shops, and one-of-a-kind specialty stores, which are reasons enough to discover this special neighborhood. Look for their landmark Little Italy sign (6) arched over India Street at the corner of India and Cedar streets in the heart of Little Italy.
One event not to miss is the Little Italy Farmer’s Market (Mercato), held every Saturday from 9am to 2pm, featuring over 150 booths offering farm fresh produce, artisan foods and specialty items. Grab a breakfast crepe, a green smoothie or some fresh flowers at this unforgettable market. Read more on our Activities page or in our Best Places To Eat section.

The heart of Little Italy is along India Street, which runs one-way. Cars can only travel from North to South, and it’s a super simple walk from the RentalWithAView properties. If you don’t feel like walking there is ample parking on the street, and some restaurants have off-street parking. Either way, once you arrive, the best way to experience Little Italy is on foot.

Mission Hills

Widely regarded as one of San Diego’s finest neighborhoods, Mission Hills features elegant homes along tree-lined streets, a thriving business district, and above all, a strong sense of community. Adjacent to the vibrant neighborhoods of Hillcrest and Middletown, Mission Hills is located just northwest of downtown. With its lush landscaping and winding canyons, driving or walking through Mission Hills is like navigating an oasis. This area is also home to many of San Diego’s notable residents and if you meander along the residential thoroughfares you’ll be delighted with charming hidden dead end streets and lush landscaping abound.
In addition to its warm residential feel, Mission Hills has an active business community offering fine dining, artisan shops and many services within walking distance. While you could easily spend an entire week just getting to know this single neighborhood, its central location and easy transportation and highway access means you are just minutes from everything else that San Diego has to offer.

Banker’s Hill

Just up Laurel Street from RentalWithAView is Banker’s Hill, one of our all time favorite neighborhoods. Perched high atop San Diego’s biggest hill, and right across the street from Balboa Park, this neighborhood offers sweeping panoramic views, beautiful palm-tree lined streets, and hidden culinary treats speckled throughout its hilly streets.
The neighborhood is named for the important professionals who have had homes there since the area was developed in the 1890s. Beautiful and surprising features make a visit to Bankers Hill especially worthwhile, beginning with the incredible hillside setting that looks south and west. (You get a sense of the view from the First Street Bridge north of Nutmeg Street.)

Bankers Hill offers you not only a beautiful and heart pumping walk (think San Francisco-like hill), but also a look at a dozen historic sites that show the history of residential architecture in San Diego and more: a close-up of the dreams and ambitions of the powerful San Diegans who could afford to call this neighborhood home during the first quarter of the 1900s., its central location and easy transportation and highway access means you are just minutes from everything else that San Diego has to offer.
