Fantastic

I stumbled across this place when I was looking for a last minute alternative to hotels to relax (been there, hadn’t done that). The pictures on the site don’t do it justice.

It is centrally located to everything San Diego. Just a few minutes to everywhere like Gaslamp, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Old Town, Point Loma…I could go on. We enjoyed the local taco shops that have been featured on TV, as well as other great eateries (Snooze!). Great guacamole tacos and tamales at El Indio and surf and turf tacos at Lucha Libro Taco Shop (just a short walk away).

The beautiful view of the bay from the back patio was made even better by watching planes take off and land at the airport below. For those who have never been to San Diego, the airport requires the jets to drop in over a ridge right down onto the runway. From the back patio of this place, you can literally watch them pop from over the ridge and drop right onto the runway, literally all day (it closes to traffic late at night). Also, across the bay, you can see the USS Carl Vinson and the navy ships going in and out, as well as the cruise ships. Always something to see.

Below, there were some complaints of the noise, but we really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city, and really, if you live/stay anywhere in the big city of San Diego, you’re better be pretty used to jet noise (remember military surrounds SD) and should even enjoy it like I do. After awhile, you really don’t notice it, really.

The house has a well equipped kitchen and everything you need to cook if you want/need to instead of eating out. Sweet TV and sound system setup too! Nice comfy bed too!

I really can’t say enough about this place. We will be back!

Very Comfortable, Well Appointed Condo

Initial impressions on walking in are very favorable with modern look and feel. The furniture is well laid out and comfortable, especially the circular lounger with views through the ceiling to floor windows out to San Diego bay. The lounge area has a good tv with Direct TV service and comfortable corner sofa, the open plan kitchen is compact, accessible and well equipped.

The main bedroom has a large comfortable bed, en-suite half bathroom and walk in closet – very cozy. The second bedroom had a smaller but still comfortable bed. The main, modern bathroom has a decent shower and plenty of cupboard space under the sink.

Access to the washing machine and dryer during our 3 week stay was very useful.

All contact with the owners was prompt and courteous. Overall the condo met our expectations and the photos and description on VRBO is accurate and is good value for money. Recommended.

From the Rainy Pacific Northwest

Wow! Where do I start! Definitely beautiful and exactly as pictured. My husband and I stayed for eight days of vacation at the beginning of December 2012 and have labeled it our “Best Vacation Yet!” We enjoyed watching the airplanes, navy ships and sail boats while relaxing in the comfort of the cozy patio (and yes, you CAN hear the airplanes! It’s an airport!). Inside the place is quiet with the double insulated windows and doors. It is very clean, inviting and comfortable. Michelle and Daniel have obviously made it a priority to have any item you may need available. There were plenty of towels, dishware, kitchen utensils, pans, appliances-you name it! Great location – right in the center of everything! A few minutes to Little Italy, by foot it’s an easy walk down, hills on the way back up (this is an excellent way to walk off all that great food you’ll eat there! Believe me!) The Trolley, a few blocks down, will take you everywhere if you don’t want to rent a car. We used it the first two days and rented a car for the remaining six days. We rode it to Old Towne and then headed in the other direction and rode it to the Gaslamp District and walked to Little Italy then up to this great little rental. We could have easily rode the Trolley back to within a few blocks of the unit but, it was a good time walking and checking out the fun shops and stores Theirs is no shortage of things to do in San Diego and the location of this unit makes everything so convenient! Balboa Park, the Village at Old Towne, the boardwalks and beaches and every type of restaurant you can think of are all at your disposal. We can’t wait to go down again so that we can see more of that beautiful city! We, of course, plan to stay at Michelle and Daniels again, and again and again! The only great big, huge complaint we had was that we couldn’t figure out a way to get two more weeks off work so we could stay longer! Thanks Michelle and Daniel for the thought and efforts you put into creating such an awesome vacation rental!

San Diego Vacation With Friends

We planned this vacation to coinside with a conference on Coronado and met friends that we do not see often there. This location was perfect. It was walking/running distance to Balboa Park and all of it’s trails, the zoo and the museums and very centrally located to other San Diego attractions. The amenities of the rental were all accurately described. We would definitely stay there again.

Aussie Family

My wife and I and our 2 daughters had 4 nights in here October and were very impressed with this property, it was very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. The location is 5 minutes from Seaworld, the zoo, the USS Midway and the city by car. We will recommend this property to our family and all our Aussie mates, and if we get back to San Diego we would definitely stay here again. Thank you Danny and Michelle for making this property what it is, a very comfortable place to come home to after a day of sightseeing.

Impressed New Yorkers

We are a family of travelers and always depend on reviews for our final choices. This rental was hands down a 10 in every aspect. From securing our dates through checking out we found the owners to be very informative and attentive. The pictures of the property are accurate and the unit and grounds were impeccable.Would definatly rent here again and would also have no problem recommending it to friends and family. We especially enjoyed the back porch (and view) each morning with coffee and each evening unwinding! Be sure to check out the Farmers market in Little Italy on Saturday mornings!

Lovely Home!

We were very happy with the property. It was beautifully decorated and very well maintained. To be honest though, the airplane noise scared our 18 month old son. We didn’t realize how very close it would be to the airport so he was nervous quite a bit. The location was a very short driving distance to most of our destinations like the zoo and beach. We also appreciated being able to eat in at least a few times during our mini vacation. Thank you again for opening your home to us.

Short stay visitors to San Diego

The condo is well located, good sized, very comfortable and very nicely furnished. The hillside location affords great views, but was too hilly for the older members of our group to walk. Close to all of San Diego’s attractions. The only drawbacks were minor – noise from planes landing and taking off (its not too bad – only 1 runway) and a little noise from the upstairs unit (again not too bad.) The owners were very helpful. A car is needed – driveway parking is provided. Overall, a very positive experience.

Thoroughly charming Apt in ideal SD neighborhood

We stayed here for the entire month of January, 2013. It’s an ideal space for a couple, but also good for our small family of four (children 2 and 4 years old). The apartment is charming and well-equipped (particularly the kitchen) with clear instructions in the handy guide provided. The minor issues we had were sorted out promptly and efficiently by management. The neighborhood is unbeatable: a short distance to all the great spots around San Diego but on a low-traffic, calm and safe little street. We enjoyed the view of the harbor and also the airport landing strip: the kids enjoyed watching planes land and take off. We would recommend this apartment unequivocally to any couple or small family.

Owner response:Thanks so much for sharing your experiences Phoenix! We very much enjoyed meeting you and your adorable family, and are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! We also appreciate all of your feedback during your time here, and have implemented all of your suggestions. We look forward to hosting you for another SD vacation, or maybe even seeing you in Turkey one day!

Cozy little 1-bedroom with spectacular view!

This cozy little one-bedroom was exactly what we were looking for for a relaxing getaway to beautiful San Diego. The entire process was extremely smooth from start to finish and besides being one of the nicest vacation rentals we’ve stayed in, the owners provided a fantastic handbook with lots of great local recommendations for dining, shopping and attractions. You can hear a little bit of airplane noise if you are outside in the backyard, but its not disruptive at al inside, and the dramatic views of the bay and Coronado are well worth it! Also, the high def TV and entertainment center were top notch. Highly recommend!

Total Hidden Gem!

Great rental property with a wonderful patio area. We enjoyed our stay very much. Good location, easy to get to the freeway, Balboa park, Airport, and other place you want to visit in San Diego. Owners were very helpful and thoughtful. They reacted very quickly to help us out with a couple of minor items that came up due to us being the first folks to us this newly remodeled property. The airplane noise was no big deal as it soon became part of the background and was somewhat pleasant reminder of being part of a vibrant city.

PERFECT Location, Super Clean

What a fabulous way to see San Diego. The location is extremely convenient with a short walk to the best restaurants in Little Italy in one direction and Balboa Park & the San Diego Zoo in the other. My wife and I have always enjoyed visiting San Diego and this experience tops our list. We traveled with our 2 young children and found enjoying the city from our own personal retreat was far more fun than staying at another hotel… which all seem to be the same no matter where you travel.

The property is very well maintained, incredibly clean and well decorated. The feel of this unit is best described as a modern, high-end beach bungalow. It fits the San Diego vibe just right and felt perfect. Having a fully stocked kitchen is such a bonus. I cannot even begin to quantify how much money we saved by not paying hotel prices for food and cocktails every time you felt like having a snack or a drink.

The views of downtown and the San Diego bay are truly postcard worthy and the sunset over the bay was breathtaking. Pictures on the listing are accurate and we felt the views were actually even better in person. Owners provided a detailed manual that showed us how to operate the TV, sound system, etc. The manual also gives great tips on restaurants and other activities that could only be provided by locals. Thanks for steering us clear of the tourist traps ????

We will definitely be back and looking to stay in the same unit if we can.

Wouldn’t want to deal with anyone else!

Although we didn’t get the pleasure of actually staying here, I know I wouldn’t want to deal with anyone else. I was planning a family vacation for four to attend ComicCon. We originally had reserved the one bedroom, then our party changed from 4 to 7 and Michelle was able to get us into another property that accommodated us all with no hassle. Again, with everything set, we failed to secure passes to the Con. Of course this was so disappointing, but the worse part was we had already did everything in advance, not anticipating any issues, and now had the unpleasant task of cancelling. I was feeling particularly guilty about having to cancel this reservation, with all that Michelle was willing to do to assist with changes (not only did we change from 1 to 2 BR, we also changed length of time, and never once did I get the feeling of annoyance or burden on their behalf!). I notified and explained the reasons and to my wonderful surprise she was FANTASTIC about it. Completely understood, even sympathetic to our reason and encouraged us to try again next year and to make sure to come through them (even after all of this craziness!). Cancellation process was done and I received an email confirmation the same day. Having traveled MANY times before with not just our family, but larger numbers, this is the one thing that you are never sure of when picking a company, and I am VERY glad I chose this property and Michelle. We are for sure going to come back to them and this time to stay!

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

As a first time vrbo user, I naturally had certain doubts about renting a place like this rather than staying at a hotel. All that went out the window upon arriving at the property. This 2 bedroom unit is very beautiful, clean, and it is also well equipped!

We had a wonderful time staying over at the property and loved how easy it was to get to the various “must-see” destinations San Diego has to offer either by car, tram, or foot! I think the location is top notch.

The view of the bay window is simply wonderful. I enjoyed waking up in the mornings with a hot cup of coffee just watching the planes land on the airport. On the evenings, the window has a STUNNING view of the sunset… best viewed with a mojito on hand!

I loved the no-hassle process of it all and would love to stay there again. The only issue I can think of is the limited parking spots, when staying with multiple vehicles. There are many spots lining the nearby streets though and worse come to worse you get to enjoy a beautiful 1 minute walk back to the unit.

Overall, 5/5 stars. Great value, awesome location, comfy couches, bbq, nice bathroom (i love the water flow out of the shower head!), amenities, will definitely stay here again.

Cheers!

Great Location in San Diego!

The listing is accurate. The home is recently renovated and it is very clean. The kitchen is beautiful! The location is close to the airport but we got used to the sound after the 2nd day. The owners are great and very accommodating. I highly recommend renting this home if you are in the San Diego area. It’s very close to everything! Seems like every major attraction was within a 5 minute drive.

Your Source to San Diego!

This was a fantastic place to stay as we were first timers in SD. We debated about staying in hotels vs a private home during our 5-day stay. Initially, we fell in love with another one of their property that was adjacent to the place we were staying at. Michele quickly offered us the opportunity of a lifetime to book at this one on Palms since the one we inquired was unavail. We were not able to see the full pictures of this property online with it being new and currently under renovation, the wait was hard and we were debating if we made the right decision to fully book without not knowing what was in the home us. The moment we walked in, we almost didn’t want to leave to go tour SD anymore. It was that beautiful and home like.

The owners were easy to work with. They were very patience, and very understanding of our needs and multiple questions upon arrival. We met Dan on our first day there, as he helped us checked in, because we failed to read the check in time notice (our mistake). Dan was very helpful, walked us through a few details of the home, including answering our late night phone calls on the tv remote of course, ???? and the famous internet hook ups. Which by the way, is superduper fast. Beds were comfy and our favs too!

We also met our downstairs neighbors, Vicki and her husband. They were very nice and offered many great suggestions on the cities whereabouts.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone except those w/small children like us. And reasons for it, is that we traveled with a small child (2yrs old) and our child when excited became loud, and even ran around the house. We felt bad for our neighbors most of the time due to that. The walls are quite thinned and you can also hear your neighbors downstairs if they drop something or turn on the shower. We also didn’t enjoy the noises from the airplanes, but when you get a chance to see the view of the landing strip, ships harbor view, and the night lights from it all, you tend to forget about the noise level from outside.

We ate out one night at Na Pizza in Little Italy, very good pizza and salads. And we also ate at Ortega Mex off of Washington Ave. which was very tasty. Food shopping was convenient at Vons. We toured the SD zoo, and we tried the famous Coast Toast at Brockton Villa, also saw La Jolla Cove, just beautiful!! One of the best memories we had in SD was staying a great home like this and taking professional family pictures on the beach. These are the two must-do!

Amazing Find!

We enjoyed a wonderful 5 days at this newly-renovated home. When we first entered the home, I said “Wow” (really!). The setting is amazing with fantastic views. The home is comfortable, spacious, and equipped with all the amenities we needed. Modern, clean decor made for a comfortable stay. Michelle was a pleasure to deal with, and went out of her way to provide a portable crib, infant bathtub, and diaper pail for our young daughter. Our older daughter LOVED watching the airplanes take off and land! Despite the proximity to the airport, the noise level was not obtrusive. We went to the zoo and Sea World and the location of this home was perfect (so close!) I highly recommend this rental.

Great place. Easy to access. Nice and cozy.

We enjoyed our stay at in sunny San Diego–especially this fantastic condo on the hill. It was well cared for, smelled nice (important to pregnant people with super-odor-detecting abilities), carefully decorated, and aptly stocked. Oh, and our bed was perfectly soft, with nice linens: we slept in without the kids waking us up at 6 and I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. (Maybe the no kid thing helped?). The bathrooms were sparkly and updated. It was close to everything. (Only 5 minutes from the airport). Overall, it was a great place for a great value. Thanks and we’ll be back for another romantic getaway before the next parenting-related nervous breakdown.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the kind words Rachel. We really enjoyed having you and the family, and are glad you were able to get some much needed rest! See you back for a future visit!
